luckysevenstar: Nurture your creativity!!!: "You know, I'm not the world's most creative person - not by a long stretch of the imagination. Even though my mum still says 'oh, your so..."

Customise it online | Technology | Lifelounge

A few links for those who wish to dabble in their creative side and blend the line between fashion and personal costume. The Sneaker design section drew the most of my attention but it would be cool to make a wedding dress out of 1960's romance comic covers. Heh, 'Bride of Lichenstein'.

Congratulations and kudos

Congratulations to Sarah Wright-Smith for making it into the finals of the AGDA Poster Annual Exhibition, and much kudos to my fellow creatives for their submissions too - Artisan http://www.getartisan.com.au ran a great brainstorming session which gave us a chance to write, brainstorm, review and discuss design over a few slices of pizza - nice work everyone!

240 is a lucky number right?

Since the public/designer's public outcry at the not terribly appealing new GAP logo, there's been call to submit redesigns. My entry is number 240 and I'm happy to say that it's sits well against some of the better submissions.

I've used the font Titillium Maps which is lovely and legible, it speaks to me of being modern without throwing out the past. A main part of the redesign is the stitching square, the frame for the type. It's slightly askew just to make the name have a tiny bit of movement in the 'gap' I've made for it. Thinking practically the stitching square could be used so much as part of the new logo that in some cases you could do away with the logo and use it for promotional copy or even washing instructions.

You can catch the redesign frenzy over at Scott Hansen's portfolio blog http://blog.iso50.com or more directly via the link above. Cheers!

Release Your Dreams... Vote 1 Red Balloon!
My AGDA Poster Annual entry is now available for your glorious support in vote for People's Choice. Cheers!

Oh and the layout and typography for http://posterannual.agda.com.au/index/gallery/vote/type/all/pg/7/entry/551 is mine as well.
The words and idea is from the lovely Sarah Nestor who was looking for a designer to pull it all together.

The process was a lot of fun and there's some excellent work in the gallery (but you know you should probably vote for the balloon)

AGDA Poster Annual

My entry for AGDA's Poster Annual is up on their website.

It's titled 'Release Your Dreams'

Artisan ran a competition to select entrants from their list of quite talented creatives and I got to be one of them. It was a great process and hopefully the results speak for themself. Cheers!

I want the future

I long for the day that Nikola Tesla’s vision of free electricity fills the sky.
Vehicles of Air, Land and Sea fueled by a shared goal.
Our planet pulsed by wiilectric power for all of it’s inhabitants.
And the web fills the air with oceans of information, readily acessible.
I’ll carry a bud in my tooth or even skull – to transcend this human present.
To never forget a name or face, to be able to share thought as well as voice.
To work by drawing in space, from spreadsheet to sculpture.
I want the future.

Visit Fiel by Leif

Leif is a damn fine photographer and a charming gentleman.

His blog contains not only the images that inspire him; but also his own work.

Funk-At Heavy-Sample animated clip

A friend of mine King Tim kicked together this track with me for animating.
The track is called Funk 'At.
It's a pretty long mix of electro funk and big beats that leant itself to some interesting images. You always want more out of your work but I'm still pretty happy how this one turned out.

Big alien beats and tripped echo images.

Judas Khemical -Title Sequence

A Title sequence created for my my comic book project using Premiere Pro, Illustrator and Photoshop. The music was mixed and arranged by me using sample tracks to create a modern yet haunting sound.

I've been developing a comic book story called Judas Khemical. It's set in a mobile city that roams what's left of our planet.

The main character Judas is a Simulant or a product-designed humanoid; who has flipped his programming and gone on the run. But when you live in an enclosed space, how long is it until you have nowhere to go?

My work on Flickr

http://www.flickr.com/photos/psimonic/sets/72157623581960435/

I've been kicking up my freelance design a notch lately, one of the first steps being the renaming/rebranding my online folios and cross-linking them effectively.

An example of this is my Flickr portfolio, the first to be linked up. Have a look and tell me your favourite piece if you like.

Cheers!

It's a long fall from Mars...

Meet Xemos Heck; he's lithe, three-fingered and always found in a bio-suit.

He's also the proud owner of Cydonia, New Utonia's premier quasi-legal resort, arena, boudoir, bar, dance-hall and all-round entertainment complex.

If it's an experience you want to have have resonating in your cerebral cortex for the next few months then come and enjoy the best that modern technology has to offer.

Xemos is the best of hosts, his distractions carry the course form digital and analog, for both meat and machine.

Of course there's a lot of talk that this little green man is actually from Mars, but don't pay too much heed. There's talk around that he started that rumour himself...
